Temple #4 Bean Soup
Ingredients
*Cayenne is a blood purifier and possesses many healing properties. Parsley is a powerful internal cleanser and deodorizer. Cloves assist with gas and have anti-parasitic qualities.
- 2 lbs. of navy beans
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 tbsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/3 cup of parsley
- 4-5 bay leaves
- Cloves (to taste, cloves are strong, so start with just a few and add more as desired)
- Bring 1 gallon of water to a rapid boil.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the salt and navy beans.
- Cover the pot and simmer the soup, adding more water if needed. Stir the beans every 30 minutes or so.
- Continue cooking the soup until the beans are tender but not mushy.
- Add the spices to the pot. Simmer the soup until the broth thickens.
- Taste the broth and adjust the seasonings, if needed. Cooking time will vary depending on the soaking method used.
