Cream Of Wheat Bread
Ingredients
*Optional: For a sweeter taste, add 1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract to the batter.
- 1 cup of cream of wheat (farina/malt-o-meal)
- 3 cups of whole wheat flour
- 3/4 cups of raw sugar
- 2 tbsp. of aluminum-free baking powder
- 1 tsp. of salt
- 2 sticks of butter, melted and cooled (+ extra for glazing the bread, optional)
- 2 tbsp. of raw honey
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 2 1/2 cups of whole milk or buttermilk
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Sift the cream of wheat, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
- In a different bowl, mix the melted butter, honey, eggs, and milk. The melted butter must be allowed time to cool off; hot butter will cook the eggs.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
- Stir until combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 pan.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the oven and rub it with 1 tablespoon of butter (optional).
- Allow the bread to cool, and then store them in the refrigerator to retain their freshness. Allow 24 hours to pass before serving.
