Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
The chocolate flavor of these cookies is intense. While one may choose to substitute regular cocoa powder instead of cacao, doing so will certainly impact the rich flavor. Cacao is the better option.
- 2 sticks + 2 tbsp. of butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups raw sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract (optional)
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 3/4 cup cacao powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips or white chocolate chips
- Preheat the oven to 350 °F.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together for 2-3 minutes until it is smooth.
- Mix in the eggs and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, sift the flour, cacao, baking soda and salt.
- Mix in the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
- Mix in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed.
- Form the dough into small balls and place them onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 12 minutes, until the cookies are set.
- Allow them to cool and sit for 24 hours before serving.
